With Science4All 2026 just around the corner, taking place in Padua from 25 to 27 September, this is a great opportunity to look back at one of the highlights of last year’s edition: the Agora of Science 2025.

The Agora of Science brought together 20 scientists from the University of Padova to share with the public the challenges, achievements, and future perspectives of research projects supported by the Italian Ministry of University and Research through PNRR Next Generation EU funding.

Designed as an opportunity to give back to the community, the event showcased the strategic visions driving cutting-edge research in Italy today. Through a series of short talks and testimonials, researchers presented the innovations they are developing and explored their potential impact on society and everyday life.

Among the speakers was Prof. Silvio Tosatto, who highlighted the role of ELIXIR in strengthening Italy’s infrastructure for the management and analysis of Big Data in the life sciences. The Padua node provides researchers with key resources, including a digital library of omics data and the European Computing Cloud (ECC), helping the scientific community access advanced computational tools while reducing research costs.

Prof. Tosatto also emphasized the importance of transparency, reproducibility, and traceability in the application of artificial intelligence to biological research. Current projects span from the study of proteins involved in diseases such as ALS and cancer to innovative applications in agrobiotechnology.
