ELIXIR-CONVERGE

  • GA No. 871075
  • Role: Participant
  • Timeline: February 2020 – July 2023
  • Funding: € 5 000 000,00

ELIXIR-CONVERGE will deliver the provisioning, across Europe, of distributed local support for data management. This will be based on a toolkit for researchers that enables lifecycle management for their research data, in compliance with international standards. ELIXIR-CONVERGE will develop the national operations of the research infrastructure to drive good data management, reproducibility and reuse. By connecting the twenty-three ELIXIR Nodes to provide FAIR data management as a service, ELIXIR-CONVERGE will build national capacity and create a blueprint for operating sustainable Nodes in distributed research infrastructures.
Silvio Tosatto leads WP1, which aims to standardize life science data management across Europe. BioComputing UP will focus on Task 1.3: Business model, supporting the development of sustainable business model(s) for the provision of data management support, starting by reviewing existing approaches, and sharing best practice of the current ELIXIR Nodes that provide data management support to local users. The identified business model should allow for ELIXIR Nodes to take on data management roles in large projects, by providing a well-defined set of services of equal and good quality from across all ELIXIR Nodes. Successful application of the model to future large projects should improve the capture, processing, analysis and archiving of data across the Life Sciences.
