Each researcher selected has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers™ which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science™ over the past decade. However, citation activity is not the sole selection indicator. This list, based on citation activity is then refined using qualitative analysis and expert judgment as we observe for evidence of community-wide recognition from an international and wide-ranging network of citing authors.

Prof. Silvio Tosatto named Highly Cited Researcher 2025 by Clarivate Analytics

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Silvio C. E. Tosatto, head of the BioComputing UP Lab, has been included again in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list by Clarivate Analytics, in the Biology and Biochemistry category.
This distinction recognizes researchers whose work ranks in the top 1% most cited worldwide over the past decade, based on data from the Web of Science and expert evaluation by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).

In 2025, only 6,868 researchers from over 1,300 institutions were selected globally, placing awardees among roughly 1 in 1,000 scientists worldwide.

Prof. Tosatto’s inclusion reflects not only the impact of his scientific publications but also his strong commitment to collaborative Open Science and Open Data, with highly cited work that promotes transparency, reproducibility, and community access to data.
